At the end of the my very busy days, I would limp back to my hotel which was located right across River Street, and right next to the City Market- the ever-charming boutique hotel, Hotel Indigo. I literally could have not asked for a better location than where that hotel was. The hotel is rather new, having only opened three years ago in mid-2016. It used to be the historic Guckenheimer building, which was a large storage facility that held all sorts of dry goods from tobacco to canned food. It even served as a coffee house in the 1940’s and 50’s.
The layout of the hotel is bizarre. There are two elevators, and they both go to different parts of the building. One half of the building is the suite side, and the other half holds the standard rooms. So you have to get on specific elevators or else you literally won’t be able to get to your room!

The staff are all very, very friendly- my sister and I, being two sweethearts (lol), quickly befriended the housekeeper, who we ran into every morning and afternoon. She took quite good care of us. About halfway through our trip, our air conditioning stopped- which was infuriating, especially in the heat, but they ended giving us a discounted rate. So… it was worth the sweaty sleep!
