My Arrival

My journey to Georgia was a little wonky. Instead of easily flying out of the Indianapolis airport, we decided to take the cheap route (literally), in that we drove two hours to the Greater Cincinnati airport, and hopped on a plane from there to fly into Savannah. The whole journey took about eight hours- left the house at 7:30am, got into Cincinnati around 9:30. Our flight was at 12:05pm, and we got into Savannah around 2:30. Waiting for an Uber and actually arriving at our hotel took another 35 minutes.

Outside of the travel time, when arriving at the Savannah airport the first thing I noticed was the size- it was easily the smallest airport I have ever been in. There are only fifteen gates in the whole airport. On top of that, the whole airport design is kind of terrible… but once I finally walked down the single terminal and walked into the main area of the airport, I found it rather cute.

It looked like kind of a beachy airport, and everything seemed rather welcoming. However, as soon as I stepped outside to wait for the Uber- blistering heat. I have never experienced such heat, and I’ve even been to the Keys.

I didn’t really have an expectation as to what I thought Savannah would actually look like- I did everything in my power to not Google what it looked like so that I could truly see what my environment would look like when I got there. The size of the building and what the streets looked like reminded me of what Mass Ave. in downtown Indianapolis looks like. It even reminded me of some places that I have visited in Italy.
