The City Market

Brief video highlighting Savannah’s City Market.

The City Market was by far one of my most favorite parts of Savannah. It is a section of shops, restaurants, and bars where people go to hang out, socialize, and have a good time. Most of the “hanging out” takes place near the restaurants, however the City Market extends all the way to Broughton Street, which is where most of the clothing stores and restaurants actually are. It’s a great place to kick back and relax, which is what I ended up doing most nights in my time in Savannah.

The City Market is where the heart of Savannah’s art scene is located. There are several art galleries that sell original paintings from local artists, and every night at 7pm, a local musician(s) will come and perform for the people. One of Savannah’s most well known restaurants-Wet Willie’s, where you can make your own alcoholic slushie- is located in the City Market. The City Market also has the Prohibition Museum, a gourmet cookie shop, countless of local restaurants, and even a wine bar where you can go and play with kittens for $15.

It’s a great place for adults, and even families- on hot days (every day), there are often families and kids running through the big fountains and water features in the heart of City Market. The entirety of Savannah is a relaxing town, and this is where most of that is taking place.
