Kessler Hotel Project

On River Street, there is currently a lot of construction happening on some of the historic building. There used to be a power plant and some other large factories located on the River, which has been decommissioned for a while. Several years ago, the owner of a hotel company named Kessler Collection Hotels bought all of these buildings in order to preserve the historic buildings, but also to get use out of them- and voila! There are five hotels currently being developed on River Street, which has been going on for the last several years.

Only part of the Kessler hotel project

There have been a lot of hiccups in all of this development, however. One of the hotels was supposed to open last year, and they are just now putting the flooring in. Another hotel has been delayed quite a bit. Apparently, artifacts from Native Americans keep getting recovered, which causes delays in the construction of this project.

My mother, Vice President of E.F. Marburger Flooring in Fishers, has been working in Savannah for the last several years because her company is doing to flooring in all of the buildings. She allowed me to tag along and not only visit the city, but check out the hotel project. And is really is freaking massive.
